UX Design

Great UX isn't about beautiful flows or clever interactions.

It's about understanding what your users actually need, and designing an experience that gets them there without thinking about it. And as the ways people interact with digital products continue to change, designing for every kind of interaction matters more than ever.

Our process connects real user insight to business outcomes, from the first interview to the final tested prototype. Research-led, outcome-focused, and powered by the latest tools and AI, so we get to better answers faster without skipping the steps that make those answers reliable.

Research and insight that tells you what to build and why!

  • • User interviews and research that reveal what your users actually need, not what you assume they do
  • • AI-assisted competitor and market analysis that shows you where the opportunity sits
  • • Analytics and data analysis that turns numbers into decisions
  • • Experience audits that find where your existing product is losing people, before they tell you themselves
  • • Accessibility audits that identify barriers you may not have known were there

A user-validated strategy and roadmap for your product

  • Research-backed personas and user profiles that give your whole team a shared understanding of who you are designing for
  • User journey mapping that shows exactly where your experience needs to work hardest
  • Information architecture that makes the logic of your product feel obvious to the people using it
  • Feature mapping that connects what users need to what your product should do
  • Product roadmaps that tell you what to build next, and why that order makes sense

Wireframes and tested prototypes, ready for visual design

  • Wireframes that work out the structure and flow of the experience before any visual design begins
  • Interactive prototypes, real enough to test with users and detailed enough to hand to a developer
  • Accessibility considered and built in at every stage, not retrofitted at the end

User testing that tells you what works before you commit to building it

  • Moderated usability testing with a researcher guiding real participants through key tasks
  • Unmoderated testing at scale so you can observe natural behaviour across a larger group
  • AI-synthesised findings reviewed and interpreted by our researchers

AI is part of how we work,
not the headline.

We use AI to get to a better outcome, faster.

It handles the tasks that eat time without adding thinking, so our designers spend more of their day on work that actually requires a human. The judgement, the strategy, and the accountability sit with the people in the room, not the tools they use.
The result is a UX process that is more thorough, not less human. And always validated against real users, because AI output and real-world behaviour are not the same thing.

Some examples of where AI shows up in our UX process:

  • AI-assisted competitor and market analysis
  • Brainstorming and early-stage ideation
  • Rapid prototyping and concept exploration
  • Processing and pattern-finding across large data sets
  • Generating microcopy and UI content
  • Automating repetitive tasks so designers stay in the thinking work

        Our perspectives

        Luckybeard website -

This year Luckybeard went through a design overhaul that saw an update in our branding as a company. Along with this change came an updated website and an opportunity to put forward what we know websites can be: sexy, performant, accessible and seo-friendly. In today’s world, websites try hard to balance these various factors but very few get it right. So how did we get it right? Lots of pedantic fine-tuning and creativity, a hallmark of Luckybeard devs.

Why I Bothered Writing an LLMS.txt (and Why You Probably Should Too)

Let’s be honest. If someone had told me a year ago that I would be sitting down to write an article about an LLMS.txt file, I probably would have laughed, closed my laptop, and gone riding my dirtbike instead. But here we are, deep in the wonderfully strange intersection of SEO, AI, content strategy, and web architecture. Robots.txt suddenly feels nostalgic, Google updates are behaving like they have had too much caffeine, and SEO is apparently “dead” for the 47th time this year.

        Spoiler alert, it is not.
